You can refer to man ftpd for more details but a few basic stuff is that in.ftpd is the Internet File Transfer Protocol (FTP) server process. The server may be invoked by the Internet daemon inetd(1M) each time a connection to the FTP service is made or run as a standalone server. The following entry should be uncommented in /etc/services for ftp server to start

ftp stream tcp nowail root /usr/sbin/in.ftpd in.ftpd

Hi. I am an operator hoping soon to become an administrator. I have been asked to setup a secure FTP server in solaris 10. Could somebody possibly outline the basic stages of what needs to take place. I would be grateful for any info offered. Thanks
